Litig releases Legal IT AI Due Diligence Questionnaire

The legal world is going through a period of unprecedented change with the increased adoption of AI and especially Generative AI.

Many suppliers are also incorporating these technologies into their products and it is becoming apparent that there are a wide range of approaches. In addition we are seeing new standards such as ISO/IEC 42001 and the launch of the European AI Act.

Clients are also very legitimately keen to understand the technologies law firms are using and what is happening to their data. In response to this, Litig have developed an AI Due Diligence Questionnaire for use with the suppliers. The questionnaire has had the input from a number of Litig members as well as legal advisers in relation to the European AI Act.

Quote from Derek Southall, Chair of Litig:

“As AI evolves it is vital we all proceed with appropriate care. Law firms have to carry out due diligence on their AI suppliers just like any other supplier and are also on the receiving end of due diligence requests from their own clients. The Litig AI Due Diligence Questionnaire is designed to prevent people reinventing the wheel. It is a great example of a collaboration between the Litig members”.

The Litig AI Due Diligence Questionnaire can be found on www.litig.org and is available subject to a disclaimer on a no liability basis.
